Scirocco GT24

Volkswagen presented the racing version of the Scirocco GT24 at Wörthersee 2008. It draws its 325 PS power from only two litres displacement: the 16-valve direct injection engine with a turbocharger and intercooler delivers its maximum torque of 340 Newton metres beginning from only 2,100 rpm. Gear changes are executed by a dual clutch gearbox (DSG), delivering drive to the front wheels.

The GT24 is 75mm lower than the road going Scirocco. Race spec 6 piston callipers combines with 362mm front and 255mm rear discs bring the beast to a stop. Wider track accounts for the racing Scirocco being 61mm wider than the production model. It also sheds 178kg in stripped out and lightened spec.

VW Motorsport also race prepared a GT24 CNG. This Scirocco was powered by a 2.0-litre turbo engine fueled by 'eco-friendly' compressed natural gas delivering nearly 300 hp.
